Deleting Personal Data

This Page describes how a Themis Balance user may delete personal data from the Themis Balance app.

Deleting data is an irreversible action. Once data is deleted from our servers there will be no way to retrieve it.

User Data

A user record is maintained on the server to support the app's functionality. For example, it associates Themis account information with the authenticated account information.

When a user leaves a household, the system checks if the user is the last remaining user in that particular household.

If the leaving user is not the last in the household The system will remove the association between the leaving user and that particular household

If the leaving user is the last in the household The system will remove the association between the leaving user and that particular household, and will mark the household for future removal

When a user leaves the household their account record is also immediately removed. Some residual information about the user may linger in system logs and other operational components, but will eventually rotate out of storage.

If the leaving user reported transactions in the past (visible in "History" screen), those transactions will be kept in the household as they impact the current balance. However, the user nickname can be changed freely in the "Settings" screen and is otherwise not associated with any private information.

Removing Household Data

Household record contain the history and present state of a household. For example, transactions history, budget planning etc.

A household without users will be removed from the server after a reasonable period.

The household owner (usually the user who created the household) can remove all users and then leave the household from the "Settings" screen. Upon leaving, a warning notification will note that an empty household will be eventually removed.

Please note that a household owner cannot be removed by other users
